How to Use Marian’s Prayer Reminders for a Daily Prayer Habit
Make room for daily prayer with Marian’s Rosary and Divine Mercy reminders. Choose a realistic time, understand notifications, and protect private intentions.
It is easy to reach evening and realize that the time you hoped to spend in prayer never quite arrived. Work, family, errands, and small distractions can fill the space you meant to leave open.
A reminder gives that intention a place in your day. Marian’s prayer reminders, available with the optional paid Marian Patron upgrade, let you choose the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, or both. With a little thought about when you can actually respond, they can support a daily rhythm of prayer.
Begin with one prayer and a workable time
Choose the prayer you want to make room for first. You do not need to enable both reminders simply because both are available.
Think about a familiar part of your day: after breakfast, when you finish work, or before your evening reading. Choose a time when you are usually able to pause, with enough space to pray without rushing. A reminder during a meeting or the busiest part of family dinner may become something you regularly dismiss.
Give the plan a simple shape:
After I put away the dinner dishes, I will sit down and pray the Rosary.
Set the reminder near that usual moment. The routine gives you something to recognize even when you are not looking at your phone.
Know how the reminder choices work
Rosary and Divine Mercy reminders are individually selectable, but they share one daily reminder time. If you enable both, Marian combines them into one notification at that shared time. You cannot set a separate morning Rosary reminder and afternoon Divine Mercy reminder within these controls.
There is no weekday picker or option for multiple reminder times. These reminders cover the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, not the Holy Wounds Chaplet or daily readings.
Both reminders start turned off. When you enable a reminder, Marian requests iOS permission for notifications with alerts and sound. If permission is refused, the reminder toggle turns off again.
Let completed prayer shape the day’s reminder
Marian checks whether the prayer selected for a reminder has already been completed in the app that day. When it has, today’s reminder is skipped.
If both reminders are enabled, both prayers need to be complete before today’s combined reminder is skipped. Completing only one does not remove the reminder for the day.
For the Rosary reminder, completion means a full Rosary; a single decade does not count as a completed full Rosary. A decade can still be a meaningful prayer when that is what your circumstances allow. Understanding the distinction simply helps explain why you may still see a reminder afterward.
Keep the schedule current
Marian schedules reminders for a rolling window of up to 30 days. That schedule refreshes when you open the app, change reminder settings, or complete prayer. Open Marian regularly rather than expecting reminders to continue indefinitely without using it.
If a reminder seems missing, check whether today’s selected prayer is already complete and whether the reminder remains enabled. Then review Marian’s notification permission in your iPhone’s settings. Focus and Scheduled Summary can also affect when notifications appear. Apple explains these controls in its guide to iPhone notification settings.
Keep private intentions private
Your most recent prayer intention may appear in a reminder preview. If it includes something you would not want visible to someone nearby, consider hiding notification previews.
On iPhone, go to Settings → Notifications → Marian → Show Previews, if available, and choose Never to hide previews. Apple also offers When Unlocked if you want previews hidden while your phone is locked. See Apple’s notification preview guidance.
Adjust gently and begin again
After a few days, notice what happens when the reminder appears. If you consistently cannot respond, choose a more workable time. If you miss a day, return at the next opportunity without adding extra demands to compensate.
Start simply: open Marian, choose one prayer reminder with Marian Patron, and select a time that fits your ordinary day. Leave yourself enough space to answer that invitation with attention. If you need help, visit Support.
